"Life Is Not Measured By The Number Of Breaths We Take,
But By The Moments That Take Our Breath Away" ~Linda Patton~
THESE MOMENTS TOOK MY BREATH AWAY
Festival de Santa Maria, Sal Cape Verde
2001 Became the year of change for the group. It also became a year of growth for its youngest member
Brother "Tiny" decided it was time to move out and up into the mainstream of the business on a full time schedule, and is now pursuing a solo career.
T. T.'s musical life started the day his Uncle Peter raised up his hands and told, Albina Shu, his Mom and Feliciano Flash, his Dad, To Para Li!, which in Cape Verdean means to Stop Here! From that phrase Tiny took on his name, and now the name of his company. Perry Lee As the youngest child in a family of ten, and of a culture where music is a dominant part of their heritage, it was only natural that he be blessed with an incredible musical talent. His musical training began with his father Feliciano "Flash" Vierra Tavares and his aunt “Ms. 1” Victoria “Vicki” , Who were troubadours of the old school of thought , that maintained a popular Cape Verdean band which was well known and liked through-out New England and parts of the West Coast.
During the early years the Tavares family had at least four groups performing at one time. Tiny joined his first group "The Twilighters" when he was in his senior year at Roger Williams Junior High School, where he was mentored by his first music teacher Mrs Davis, in South Providence, Rhode Island. That group presented the first singing opportunity for famed vocalist "Jeffery Osborne", and also consisted of Tiny’s brother Victor Tavares, Manuel "Bubby" Barros, and John Bird, all of whom still perform in various acts.
From the eldest brother John "Funna", (his third vocal trainer) to the youngest, Tiny, the Tavares family sang. So it was not surprising that one day they would become famous for doing just that. The group that finally emerged from that era was composed of six of the brothers, who became known as
"Tavares" .
They went on to record several Gold and Platinum records and captured the coveted Grammy for their work on the famous soundtrack, "Saturday Night Fever", with "More Than A Woman" . Tavares proffered the public with hits singles, Such as "Check It Out," It Only Takes A Minute, Don’t Take Away The Music, "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel, Plus Penny For Your Thoughts, "She’s Gone" and "Words And Music".
Though the Tavares brothers have slowed in their live engagements and have gone their separate professional ways,
"TINY"
Has continued to perform as an opening act for; "Ray Charles"(recently deceased - RIP), "Darryl Hall"(Of Hall and Oates) "Chaka Khan", "The Delfonics", "Blue Magic", "The Whispers", and "K. C. And The Sunshine Band," just to name a few.
He's a magnificent natural talent which allows him to sing ballads and up tempo tunes with equal prowess, and with a command of over a three octave range, The man can Pipe! Tiny’s vocals contain a kaleidoscope of emotions from the palest humoresque shades of romantic ballads to the vivid deep colors of pure unadulterated funk. Tiny paints vocal pictures that touch every audience, and has been said to touch you Deep with Heartfelt excitement. With his classic Cape Verdean looks he presents a picture that is easy on the eyes, as he moves through his choreography with style and grace, He has returned to the public eye in a whole new arena, Center Stage. His shows contain music from every spectrum, Old and New!, With his own renditions of the Tavares songs, to Luther Vandross, Nat King Cole, Oleeta Adams, Chic Correa, Johnnathan Butler and Stevie Wonder. He has a touch of Gospel, Jazz, Blues and a hint of Hip-Hop. A consummate performer, Tiny! is equally at home in a stadium as in an intimate room, So make it a point to

Tavares Greatest Hits
The family Tavares has been performing since 1955, And now with a sweet, infectious Disco R&B sound that seems to soar
above all other pop sounds. Their biggest hits are "It Only Takes A Minute Girl","Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel", ( Which by the way was recently featured in the movie "Charlie's Angels" and Chris Rock's "Down To Earth", And a commercial for Philadelphia Brand Cream Cheese)
and of course, their smash hit "More Than A Woman", From the movie soundtrack "Saturday Night Fever
For those of you who don't remember, Tavares was formed back in 1964 with Ralph "T", Arthur "Pooch",
Antone "Chubby", "Victor" Earl, Feliciano "Butch", and Perry Lee "Tiny" Tavares.
The singing groups names went from "Linda & The Del Rio's", to "Chubby And The Realities", to "Chubby And The Turnpikes", to The "Turnpikes". They then switched to the name "Tavares" in 1969 during a trip to Italy with "Lola Falana" (who was later to marry Butch)
They were signed to Capitol Records in 1973, Under the great management direction of Brian Panella. Their debut album Check It Out contained two top ten R&B charters. Their sophomore effort
Hard
Core Poetry contained the top ten hit "That's The Sound That
Lonely Makes." Hard Core Poetry also featured the hit "She's
Gone" (penned by up and coming songwriters Daryl Hall and
John Oates). Hall and Oates would later re-chart with their own version
of this classic soul song. In The City featured Tavares' polished, soaring
style at its best, and the hit song "It Only Takes A Minute Girl"
was a number one smash.
In 1976 Tavares came out with "Sky High" and this classic
album contained the disco classic "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel."
At this point in time, Tavares were full fledged dance music superstars.
Tavares toured constantly and was making regular appearances on U. S.
television shows like Johnny Carson's Tonight Show and Dick Clark's American Bandstand.
The Bee Gees wrote "More Than A Woman" for Tavares to record,
and the group performed the song for the soundtrack to Saturday
Night Fever. The album quickly became the biggest selling album
in history at that time. The track was also included on their 1978 release
"Tavares Future Bound". Tavares has continued to record throughout
the years, and a number of Tavares compilation albums have been released
in recent years, including our favorite, A
Lifetime With Tavares. A live Tavares album was released in 1999
and was followed by another live album in 2000.
Brother Tiny had the pleasure of working with a new writing team, which included a stable of composers from "MB" Records out of Brockton, Massachusetts.
The Mendes brothers, Joao,"Jon Jon", Ramero "Dr Ra" along with Antonio "TC" Cruz Of Cape Verde, by way of Lisbon, Portugal.
He is also working with the writing of his Son's Marcus, Brent, and Ajani. And now has just combined his vocal and writing ability with a new production group out of Florida to record in his solo endeavor with Orly Penate out of Pompano, who is turning out some major hits.
He is still shopping a management deal.

The Next Generation
This group of young men had the prowess of vocal Majesty thrust upon them at a very early age by their parents and grandparents. Their musical heritage spans four generations. Starting with their Great grand father Raphael, Then to their Grand father Feliciano "Flash" Tavares, then to their fathers, the group "Tavares".
The oldest "Brent Tavares" who is oldest only in mastery of voice and choreographic capabilities. Brent's vocal timber will take your ears to places that they've never been before along with his leaps that defy gravity. This young man started winning talent shows at the early age of seven, and became so popular that the following he developed, turned him quickly from a contestant to the main attraction throughout his grammar school years. He loves to spend his time playing basketball, rollerblading, tennis, horseback ridding, swimming, hiking, and working out. He has an undying youthfulness with a shy approach, that adds just one dimension to their show.
Next we have "Brandon Tavares" son of Pooch Tavares, who's style of vocalizing is only exceeded by his friendly outgoing nature. Brandon started performing at a later stage in his early life. He was drawn into the family business by the glitter and allure of the stage after hangin out with his cousins, Brent AJ and Marcus. Because he is so at home in so many arenas, such as; Golf, Tennis and Basket-Ball. He could have gone on to a successful career in any of these fields, and has a way with the ladies.
Last but not least, There is "Marcus Tavares," Like his father before him, Marcus is the youngest of the group, but don't let his age fool you. This young man has been watching in the wings while his brother's and his cousin performed at school shows, growing and developing inside his musical cocoon until the times was right for him to break out from his shell.
All three gentlemen are as stunning as their predecessors.
With looks that are very pleasing to the eye. (better known to the industry as eye candy)
They have Been Blessed to perform with groups of media stature, such as; Monica, Soul 4 Real, Kool and The Gang, KC And The Sunshine Band, Marky-Mark and the Funky Bunch, and of course their father's, and The Spinners, And of course "TINY"
The "TAVARES" legacy will now continue on with his grandchildren: Anthony, Lorae, Sarah, Caiden, Veronica, Jonathan, Jaianne, Aria, and now the latest addition to the clan, Brent and Angie's other baby girl Marlowe Glory

After taking first place in Jr. Miss Mass National North East 2007, and Super Model w/ Style 2007, Super Model Mag. November/December release in October
"Little Miss Hip Hop"
has already performed several times at the Ziterion Theater in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was also selected to perform in the Nutcracker on the same stage as her Father Ajani, Grandfather Tiny, and Great Grandfather Flash, which makes four generations of Tavares to have performed on this stage.
Lorae also took First Place in the annual talent show, which was just held June 14th at the Polaski school.
Her Love of Music began with her
Great, Great Grandfather "Raphael",
who played the Accordion and did some singing, from what we've been told. You'll be hearing more about him in the near future.
Deus Fica Ma Bo
(God be with you)
Today He will be handling all of your problems.
Please remember that He does not need your help.
If life happens to deliver a
situation to you, that you cannot
handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD
(Something For God To Do) box. It will be addressed in His time, not yours.
Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold on to it.
If you find yourself stuck in traffic; Don`t despair.
There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.
Should you have a bad day at work;
Think of the man who has been out of work for years.
Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; think of
the person who has never known what it`s like to love
and be loved in return.
Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; think of the
woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to
feed her children.
Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from
assistance; think of the paraplegic who would love the
opportunity to take that walk.
Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror;
think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.
Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all
about, asking what is my purpose?
Be thankful. There are those who didn`t live long
enough to get the opportunity.
Should you find yourself the victim of other people`s
bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities;
Remember, things could be worse...you could be them!

someone's day"
